Most kittens learn to bury their urine feces with sand, dirt, litter, etc. from their cat mothers at 4 weeks of age, a behavior that dates back thousands of years when feral cats hid from natural predators by burying to cover up odors. According to an analysis report by the National Council for Pet Situation Research and Policy, 43.2% of abandoned stray cats were abandoned by their original owners because they did not defecate inside the cat litter box.
Other reasons for abandonment include: owner's lifestyle (too many cats in the house, allergic reactions, personal problems), housing problems (moving, landlord's objections, home facilities can't meet the needs of keeping cats), cat behavioral problems (conflicts with other pets)
Suitable cat litter box: for kittens, the outer edge of the litter box should not be too high (not more than 3 inches, i.e., 7.53cm), should not have a lid, which is a sense of oppression for kittens, and large cats can generally be 4 inches or more
The litter box should not be placed in the kitchen and other noisy, people come and go area, try to put it in their own room, do not put the litter box and food bowls, water bowls together, cats are very attentive to the cleanliness of the animal.
The first time you bring a cat to your home, you can bring it to a litter box covered with cat litter (about 5cm), hold the cat's paw in your hand, let the cat feel the texture of the litter and familiarize it with the litter box, and wait for the cat to jump out on its own. In the first few days, you can put the cat in the litter box after eating, after playing, after napping, and repeatedly strengthen the feeling of the litter box, during which you must keep the litter box clean.
Cat litter box cleaning problems: every day to clean in time, to ensure that the feces will be cleaned up in a timely manner, every two weeks to change all the cat litter, and use non-irritating disinfectant solution to disinfect the cat litter box, or placed in the sunlight exposure
